A Clean Sweep: Tips for Spring Cleaning Your Social Media Profiles Like a Pro

Spring is finally here, and what better time to give your social media profiles a much-needed deep cleaning? As a marketing agency, we understand that keeping up with social media can be overwhelming. But with a little elbow grease, you can refresh your profiles and really make them Sparkle✨.

Not Sure Where to Start?
We got you. Here are some of our top spring cleaning tips for your social media:

#1. Review your profiles and bios
The first thing you should do is take a look at your social media profiles and bios. Are they up-to-date? Do they accurately reflect your brand? Make sure your profile pictures, cover photos, and bios are all consistent and reflect your brand messaging. Update any outdated information, including your contact details, website URL, and other relevant information. Instagram has recently made an update where you can add up to five links in your bio- make sure to add all your relevant links!

#2. Clean up your followers
It’s a good idea to regularly review your followers and clean up any spam accounts or bots. When you see a spam account, block and report them. Having fake followers can hurt your engagement rates and make it harder for you to reach your target audience.

#3. Refresh and repurpose your content
Don’t be afraid to shake off the cobwebs of your favorite posts of the past and repost! Mix things up a bit by adding some additional content, such as infographics, GIFs, or memes to give it a little facelift.

#4. Use hashtags strategically
Hashtags can help your content get discovered by a wider audience, but too many hashtags can make your posts look spammy. Now is a good time to go back through any older posts and remove any hashtags that could be hurting your SEO. Stick to a few relevant hashtags per post and consider creating a branded hashtag to help build your brand and encourage user-generated content.

#5. Monitor your audience engagement
Social media is a two-way conversation (although sometimes it feels like you may be shouting into the empty abyss). Missed a message? Never too late to go back with an apology cake! For the future, consider using social media management software features that allow you to respond to comments on multiple platforms & accounts all from one place.

Now, sit back & relax
Now that you have your social media profiles looking squeaky clean, sit back and relax knowing your just gave your viewers a more engaging and cohesive brand!
